gabe

Our first dog Gabe is in doggie ICU right now. He's had some nasty stomach "issues" over the past two days, but things turned bad yesterday afternoon. He was bleeding internally - and not producing any platelets. Bad combo. He had a transfusion overnight and is responding positively. He'll be there for several more days while they try to bring his platelets back up and determine where he's bleeding from. Dan and I are going to go visit him this afternoon. Please send some good dog juju his way. He needs it.

Update: Heidi and I just got back from visiting Gabe. He's doing much better but not quite out of the woods yet. We we're able to take him outside for a walk and it was a nice (and rare) sunny day here so it was nice to hang outside. Gabe sure was psyched to be out of his crate. Thanks for all the good juju !! It's working I think - keep it up.

swept away...

Ouch. The Mariner's swept the Red Sox with the final winner yesterday afternoon at Safeco. It was a harsh three days for Dan. We upgraded our bleacher seats yesterday to 8 rows up off of the third base line. Don't get me wrong; we normally root for our Mariner's. But there will be none of that when the Red Sox are in town. Some shots from yesterday...

Benjamin Rudnick

Our friend Paul and his lovely wife Tracy became proud new parents a couple weeks ago. Benjamin was born on June 10th.

Paul met Erin and me for lunch yesterday and brought the little cutie with him. Fatherhood looks good on him....

Dan can only hope that young Benjamin does not follow in his father's silly ways by becoming a Yankee's fan ! Just joking Paul.........but not really.

I love baseball season...

Last night's Mariners game was the first in a three-game series with the Red Sox. It was a beautiful night at the Safe - however, the game was not quite so pleasant. For Red Sox fans at least. The Nation was well represented last night. A sea of Red Sox hats overwhelmed the crowd. We had great seats.

It's bleacher-city for tonight and tomorrow's games.

Did I mention that I LOVE baseball season ??

SAM-MY SAM-MY

Sammy Sosa hit his 600th career HR last night AGAINST THE CUBS in Texas ! Way to go Sammy. I can't help but remember the good ol' days...

winthrop trip ...

Dan and I left Sunday moring for a daytrip to the town of Winthrop in the Methow Valley - 4 hours northeast of Seattle. We stayed at the River's Edge Inn. I highly recommend this place. It was nice to "get out of dodge" for the day.

By the way - if you live in the Seattle area and ever thought of stopping at the outlet mall near the Tulalip Casino, keep on driving by. We've considered stopping many times and finally gave it a try today. Very disappointing.

berries...

This is the first year we have tried to grow strawberries. We bought two different varieties - Rainier and Quinault. The first three Rainier berries were picked today.

We also picked up a couple pints of local berries from our produce guy, Tony. He has a stand (quonset) in our neighborhood that consistently has the best produce around.

two out of three's not bad....

It's been nice watching some Cubs baseball on local TV. The Mariner's ended a three game series in Chicago this afternoon. Tuesday night's game went 13 innings and ended in a harsh loss for the cubbies. But they rallied and took the next 2 games.

JR Ewing lives...

A few months ago, Dan's school hosted a Grandparents Day event that included the students having lunch with their guests. Larry Hagman's granddaughter attends the school. Dan saw him in the crowd and asked him for a photo with the kitchen crew.

poi dog pondering....

Something made me think of this band today, so I thought I'd see what goodies YouTube had. I like this song. They were such a great band to see live. I have many fond (foggy) memories of their after-shows at Lounge Axe in Chicago.
